Classifying High School Scholarship Recipients Using the K-Nearest Neighbor Algorithm

YBM PLN UIWS2JB provides scholarships for high school students who cannot afford tuition due to poverty or other economic conditions. Since the target is specific, foundation must carefully select recipients ensure scholarship granted those deserve it. The predetermined criteria combined with limited quota available become a difficulty in itself as large number of applications are coming in. Data mining classification method using K-Nearest Neighbor algorithm believed be one alternative solutions solve this problem. This study aims examine how could help selection process determine eligible receive scholarship, and it also evaluate algorithm's performance optimal K value. findings research showed that potential applied case such this. results found an accuracy 91% included Excellent Classification category. value obtained = 5.
